To increase opportunities for physical activity, the Pennsylvania Department of Health has partnered with the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health Center for Public Health Practice to create a network of fun, fact-filled, community-based walking routes and walking groups. The Tioga County Partnership is proud to be the local partner for WalkWorks! 

UPDATE (9/8/2017): Now recruiting Walking Group Coordinators for WalkWorks Tioga County! Lead the walking revolution in Tioga County, Pa! Coordinators should be ready to lead at least one walk per week on a designated WalkWorks route. Be ready to use your can-do attitude to lead, encourage, motivate, and recruit new walkers.  If interested, contact Sue at ssticklin@tiogapartnership.org or call 570-723-0520.

The WalkWorks initiative:

  • Identifies and promotes safe walking routes;
  • Offers social support through guided, community-based walking groups;
  • Helps schools develop walk-to-school programs; and
  • Addresses local policies to increase safe walking routes.
